mi pololo pablo

I don’t like to celebrate Fiestas Patrias. I think is the worst holiday we have. I’m not sure about when I began to hate it but I suppose it was the first time I went to a Fonda. I hated to see drunken people dancing cumbia and talking so loud. And I hate the patriotism and the popular tradition to dancing Cueca and the expectation to the September 19 “Las Glorias del Ejército”.

Although this year I had a different experience. My boyfriend is from Chillán and I took him to visit his family. When we arrived to the city the mother of my boyfriend took us to the mountain and we stayed in a fabulous cabin with a beautiful view to a river. His grandparent, uncle and aunt were waiting for us in the cabin with five “Corderos al palo” and a lot of potatoes and salad. And as I a vegetarian they cooked for me an exquisite cake made with vegetables and toast quinoa.

All the week we stayed there we ate a lot. Besides, all the mornings we went out to explore the surroundings and all the afternoon we played “Carioca” and “Poker” or we sang Chilean music while Pablo played the guitar and his uncle play the “Cajón Peruano”. I really enjoyed the past Fiestas Patrias because I have the opportunity to spend time with my boyfriend’s family that I really appreciate. And for the other hand, because my boyfriend and I count stayed far away to the city and to the all of problems, and calls, and responsibilities that make the life hard, excepting the English four activities’ that I made with a big smile.

de matar pacos y quemar la ciudad

The 11th September of 193 was a dark episode in the history of our country. Preserve the memory is an obligation to Chileans, especially for the young people to avoid the possibility of a new dictatorship. I was born in a democracy whose legal and ideological foundation was created in a dictatorial context. For this reason this date have to be a chance for remember all the fallen but also to thinking about the reason because how many people had persecuted and murdered. On the other hand we have the emotional plan. This date cause in me shame and rage. The continuous abuses of power that characterized this dictatorial episode, all the murders and tortures committed for the armed forces, the police and DINA, makes me feel like sad for the miserable condition that society can reach. In this context, I think we have the obligation to complaining about the human rights violated long ago. This complaining, on the other hand, have to involve in my opinion a critical position about the role of the state with respect to make justice to the family’s and to the memory of all the victims of this regime. In this area I think we have a lot of work to do. In this 25 years of democracy reaching the justice and the changes of the principal legacy of the dictatorship have been just, in the best of cases, good intentions. To finish this post, I’d like to say I do not agree with acts of violence to the police forces. In my opinion they are workers and is not justified try to kill them throwing them bombs, they are not the essence of the problem.  I do not agree with this way of expressing the legitimate discontent with the unfair and monstrous system, especially in the context of a government that has been trying, with many mistakes and limits, to revert the principal points that dictatorship destroyed.

In this opportunity I will tell you about the country I’d like to visit. The last month my mother visited Turkey with her friends of the college. She took a lot of beautiful photos and learnt a lot about the Turkish culture. When she came back she was very excited to tell to my sister and me all her experience. She told to us that in this country exists the custom of “haggling” that means you can’t accept the price of anything you like to buy, to the contrary, you have to try to reduce the cost of the object you want. Also, I fell in love of the Turkish architecture that I can saw in my mother’s photos. After that I got curiosity for this country. Also I’m big fan of Turkish series; I’m in love to Onur and Kerim the protagonists of “Las mil y una noches” and “Fatmagul” the most popular Turkish series in our country. So probably if I have the opportunity to visit this place, I will try to find them.
